WA Annual Firearms Re-Certification

Designed specifically for licensed security professionals in Western Australia, this mandatory annual training ensures you maintain the skills, knowledge, and legal awareness required to carry and use firearms safely and responsibly in the line of duty.
Delivered by experienced firearms instructors, the course covers both theoretical and practical components, including legislative updates, safe handling practices, and marksmanship assessments. Upon successful completion, participants will be able to apply to meet the firearms re-certification requirements in accordance with WA Police licensing requirements.

Course Outcomes
On successful completion of this course participants will receive a Statement of Attainment.
Entry Requirements
This course is only open to people who hold a valid and current Western Australia Security Officer licence that includes a firearms endorsement.

The online component is required to be completed by students BEFORE attending the face to face practical component.

Assessment Re-Submission Fees
Should you be deemed not competent after 2 attempts at a unit of competency, an assessment re-submission fee of $50 will apply per assessment.
Licensing Requirements
Applicants must lodge a Security Officer Firearms Endorsement application, which includes:

Proof of employment requiring firearms

Evidence of completion of the approved training

Proof of identity and licence details

Application fee
Forms and guidance are available on the WA Police Force Licensing Services website.
WA Police may refuse, suspend, or cancel an endorsement if public safety or compliance is in question.
Firearms must only be carried while performing licensed duties and as authorised by your employer.
