SA Government Funded Training

Overview

South Australian Government-subsidised training provides eligible individuals with access to low-cost training in nationally recognised qualifications. This initiative supports South Australians to gain the skills they need to find work, change careers, or advance in their current job.

The program is designed to make vocational education more accessible by reducing the cost of training in areas with strong employment demand. Through this funding, eligible students can complete qualifications that lead to:

  • Entry into the workforce or a new industry; or
  • Career progression or upskilling within their current job or sector.

Asset College is an approved provider offering subsidised training in selected qualifications under this program. These qualifications are delivered through flexible, online or blended learning options, with full trainer and student support.

A small student contribution fee applies, but most of the course cost is covered by the South Australian Government. There are also concession options for eligible individuals.

This funding is not a loan. You don’t need to repay it — it’s genuine support to help you get ahead.

The South Australian Government subsidises the cost of undertaking an approved qualification; however, all participants will be required to contribute a co-contribution fee.

The co-contribution fee can be paid by your employer or another third party on your behalf, but under no circumstance will it be waived by Asset College and must be paid prior to enrolment into a funded training course.

Concessional student status applies when:

(a) the student holds a current Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card, or Veterans’ Affairs Concession Card issued under Commonwealth law;
(b) the student is a dependant of a person who holds one of the above concession cards and is named on the card;
(c) the student is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person;
(d) the student is a prisoner in a South Australian correctional facility, youth training centre, or community-based detention setting.

Asset College will require documented evidence of your concessional status at the time of enrolment. This may include a valid concession card, proof of identity and heritage, or confirmation of custodial status where applicable.

If you are unsure whether you meet the concession requirements, please contact us directly before submitting your application.

Applications for South Australian Government-subsidised training are subject to approval by Asset College’s Head Office. Submitting a completed application does not guarantee approval of funding. Training cannot commence until you have received written confirmation of your place being approved.

  1. Availability of funded places is limited and may change at any time without notice based on government priorities and funding allocations.

  2. Students are only eligible to receive funding for one subsidised place per qualification.

  3. Participants may be required to complete surveys or provide feedback to Asset College or the South Australian Government following completion of training.

  4. Co-contribution fees must be paid before your application can be finalised. Fees paid for unsuccessful applications will be refunded or credited to another course.

  5. Applicants should confirm with Asset College whether any additional costs (e.g. industry licensing, optional materials) apply to their course. These are not covered by the subsidy.

  6. Job seekers may be eligible for further support via Workforce Australia, Disability Employment Services, or a Community Development Program provider. Contact your provider to check if they can contribute to course fees or provide wraparound support.

  7. Only training providers approved under a Funded Activities Agreement can offer subsidised places.

  8. Students may be withdrawn from subsidised training if they do not meet progression or participation requirements set by Asset College and the South Australian Government.

  9. All applications are processed in line with Asset College’s enrolment policies and government compliance requirements.
