QLD Annual Firearms Re-Certification

Maintain your qualifications and compliance with Asset College’s QLD Annual Firearms Re-Certification course. This training is a legal requirement for armed security personnel in Queensland, ensuring continued competency in the safe handling, operation, and maintenance of firearms.

Delivered by experienced, licensed instructors, the course includes both theoretical knowledge and practical range assessments aligned with industry standards and regulatory obligations.

On successful completion of this course participants will receive a Statement of Attainment.

Required pathways for participants entering this qualification include:

Must be 18 years or age or older and have had no criminal convictions in previous 10 years to be eligible for a Security Providers Licence. Note; driving offences (e.g. speeding, drink driving, etc.) are not normally disqualifying offences.

Must be an Australian Citizen or hold an appropriate Visa to work in the Security Industry in Queensland.

Participants may choose to undertake an LLN assessment with one of our qualified assessors prior to committing to their enrolment in this qualification.

You will need access to a computer with an internet connection to complete the online component of this course.

This course is not open to international students (student visa 500).

This qualification is customisable to suit the needs of individual participants and includes a total of one unit of competency.

Weapons Licensing Categories Covered In The Revalidation

  • Category C Shotgun
  • Category H Revolver
  • Category H Semi-Automatic Pistol
  • Category E Body Armour

Online + 4 hours at the range

The online component is required to be completed by students BEFORE attending the face to face practical component.

The practical component is usually delivered from 6pm – 10pm at Rothwell Indoor Pistol Range.

On completion of your Firearms Re-Certification training you can discuss with our qualified trainers what other areas of training may be suitable for you.

Assessment Re-Submission Fees

Should you be deemed not competent after 2 attempts at a unit of competency, an assessment re-submission fee of $50 will apply per assessment.

Applications made for Security Guard Firearms Licences are handled by the Weapons Licencing Branch of the Queensland Police. This service incurs a fee to process, approve and issue licences.
