The CPP30619 Certificate III in Investigative Services is nationally recognised and meets the requirements to apply for a South Australian Investigations Agent Licence (Inquiry Work) — allowing you to conduct investigations into missing persons, fraud, theft, workplace misconduct, insurance claims, background checks, and more.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be awarded a Certificate III in Investigative Services (CPP30619).

This will allow you to apply for a SA Investigations Agent (Inquiry Work) licence.

While there are no prerequisite requirements for entry into this course, there are licensing requirements that may prevent you from gaining your SA Investigations Agent (Inquiry Work) licence in order to be a Private Investigator if you do not meet them.

This course is not open to international students (student visa 500).

Participants will require sufficient English language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills for entry into this qualification. You will be required to undertake an Online LLN ASSESSMENT prior to commencing enrolment in this course.

Standard Online Delivery

1 unit per month for 16 months. Includes regular contact with a trainer. Should allow 20 – 25 hours per week to study.

Accelerated Learning

For people with prior knowledge, skills or qualifications. 2 units per month for 8 months. Should allow 30 – 40 hours per week to study.

Assessment Only / RPL

For people with evidence of their extensive experience.

We aim to have all RPL assessments finalised within 12 weeks but it is usually much quicker. The actual timeframe depends on the course you are seeking RPL for, how long it takes you to supply the evidence and how long it takes us to verify your evidence.

On enrolment, you will receive a customised training plan. This training plan will list all units of competency you will complete within this qualification along with their due dates for submission. Students must be submitting units by the due dates outlined on your training plan or an extension application will be required.

The course required for SA Investigations Agent (Inquiry Work) is available through online study or RPL. You can also opt to complete some units by RPL and some units through online study.

Licensing for the SA Investigations Agent (Inquiry Work) is administered by Consumer and Business Services in South Australia.

You can apply as an employee if you’re qualified and haven’t been disqualified or suspended from holding a trade or business licence.

If you have been charged with, or convicted, of a criminal offence (other than a minor traffic offence), you must notify Consumer and Business Services at occupational@sa.gov.au

You may not be able to register if you have been convicted of a:

  • Category A offence – serious (indictable) offence of dishonesty
  • Category B offence – summary offence of dishonesty in the last ten years.
