Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the WA Bodyguard training, you will be awarded a CPP31418 Certificate III in Close Protection Operations.
This will allow you to apply for a ‘Security Bodyguard’s Licence’ Unarmed in Western Australia.
Entry Requirements
- Hold a current WA Security Officer Licence with the Unarmed Guard and Crowd Control functions endorsed.
- While not always mandatory, it is highly recommended that participants have at least 12 months of experience in the security industry before attempting the Bodyguard qualification, due to the course’s intensity and complexity.
- Must be at least 18 years of age, in line with state and national licensing regulations.

Must be physically fit and capable of managing demanding physical tasks.

Should possess strong communication and situational awareness skills, as the role involves interacting with high-profile clients and managing potential threats.
You must display sufficient language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills to read and understand organisational policies and procedures, write reports and communicate with others in plain English.
Prior to enrolment you may be required to undertake an LLN assessment.
This course is not open to international students (student visa 500).

To achieve WA Bodyguard by completing the CPP31418 Certificate III in Close Protection Operations you must complete the following units.

Assessment Re-Submission Fees
Should you be deemed not competent after 2 attempts at a unit of competency, an assessment re-submission fee of $50 will apply per assessment.
Re-Enrolment
Should you wish to cancel your course or your enrolment is cancelled by us due to no progress and you then wish to re-enrol, a re-enrolment fee of 25% of the standard course fee will apply if requested within 3 months of initial cancellation. If re-enrolment is requested within 4 – 12 months of initial cancellation, 50% of the standard course fee will apply.
Licensing Requirements
To work as a licensed Bodyguard (Close Protection Operative) in Western Australia, individuals must comply with the requirements set out by the WA Police Licensing Services – Security Licensing Branch.
Once you have completed your training, you need to apply for the Bodyguard function to be added to your licence.
You will need to provide:

Payment of the applicable fee
Applications can be lodged online or in person via WA Police Licensing Services.
As part of the licensing process, WA Police will conduct:
