WA Cash-in-Transit and Armed Guard

If you are new to the industry you need to start with CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations.

The Cash-in-Transit and Armed Guard course in Western Australia is a specialised training program designed for licensed security officers seeking to perform duties involving the secure transport of cash and valuables, with or without the use of firearms. This course meets the licensing requirements set by the Western Australia Police Force – Licensing Services (Security) for those wishing to hold a Cash-in-Transit and/or Armed Guard endorsement on their security officer licence.

On completion of this course you will be awarded a CPP31318 Certificate III in Security Operations with specialised units for a ‘Firearms Endorsement’.

To undertake this course, you must:

  • Hold a current WA Security Officer licence or apply for one concurrently.

  • Be at least 18 years old.

  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or have the appropriate visa and working rights.

  • Pass a national police check and meet the probity requirements of WA Police.

  • Pass a medical and psychological assessment (required for armed work).

  • Be proficient in English language, literacy, and numeracy.

  • Hold a current Provide First Aid certificate (HLTAID011).

To complete this course you must demonstrate competency in a total of 14 units. These units have been selected to give you the ‘Firearms Endorsement’ and cannot be changed.

  • CPPSEC3118 Inspect and test cash-in-transit security equipment
  • CPPSEC3119 Implement cash-in-transit security procedures
  • CPPSEC3120 Load and unload cash-in-transit in secured and unsecured environments
  • CPPSEC3121 Control persons using empty hand techniques
  • CPPSEC3114 Control security risk situations using firearms
  • CPPSEC3116 Carry, operate and maintain semi-automatic pistols for security purposes

This course is delivered over 2 weeks – Monday – Saturday, 8am – 6pm.

Assessment Re-Submission Fees

Should you be deemed not competent after 2 attempts at a unit of competency, an assessment re-submission fee of $50 will apply per assessment.

Re-Enrolment

Should you wish to cancel your course or your enrolment is cancelled by us due to no progress and you then wish to re-enrol, a re-enrolment fee of 25% of the standard course fee will apply if requested within 3 months of initial cancellation. If re-enrolment is requested within 4 – 12 months of initial cancellation, 50% of the standard course fee will apply.

In order to then apply for a ‘Firearms Endorsement’ you will need to:

  • Be employed (or have an offer of employment) with a licensed security company that is approved to use firearms in its operations.

  • Pass a national police check and not be a prohibited person under the Firearms Act 1973 (WA).

  • Pass a psychological assessment by an approved psychologist.

  • Pass a medical assessment confirming fitness to safely use a firearm.
